The AACTA International Chapter comprises Australian screen professionals with distinguished international credentials. The Chapter currently has 150 members, many of whom are also members of The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) and the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA).
Members include Geoffrey Rush, Baz Luhrmann, Catherine Martin, Jan Chapman and Jacki Weaver, to name a few.
The International Chapter votes to determine the AACTA International Awards, which recognise film excellence regardless of geography. Presented annually in Los Angeles, these Awards honour our international screen peers, add an Australian voice alongside the Oscars and the BAFTAs, and celebrate fellow Australians working in screen internationally.
The AACTA International Awards recognise excellence in seven categories – Best Film, Best Direction, Best Screenplay, Best Lead Actor, Best Lead Actress, Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress – and have honoured some of the world’s biggest names in film, including Meryl Streep, Quentin Tarantino, Michael Fassbender, David O. Russell, Alfonso Cuarón, Cate Blanchett and Jacki Weaver.
Members of the AACTA International Chapter are provided with access to preview screenings across a variety of platforms in Australia and LA for voting purposes, with around 100 screenings of awards contenders provided for members each Awards season.
The 6th AACTA International Awards will be presented in Jan 2017.
