Overview

The 2nd AACTA Awards were celebrated across two major events in Sydney in January 2013:

  • The 2nd AACTA Awards Luncheon presented by Deluxe was hosted by Oscar® and AFI Award winner Adam Elliot on Monday 28 January at The Star Event Centre in Sydney.
  • The 2nd AACTA Awards Ceremony was hosted by Oscar®, Golden Globe, BAFTA and AFI Award-winning actor Russell Crowe Wednesday 30 January at The Star Event Centre in Sydney, and broadcast on Network Ten.

It was a golden Awards season for THE SAPPHIRES, who received a total of 11 AACTA Awards across the two events, including Best Film, Best Lead Actor (Chris O'Dowd), Best Lead Actress (Deborah Mailman) and Best Supporting Actress (Jessica Mauboy).

Taking home the remaining performance Award for feature film was Antony Starr for WISH YOU WERE HERE (which also received the Award for Best Original Screenplay). Other feature films taking home AACTA Awards were NOT SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN (Best Original Music Score), IRON SKY (Best Visual Effects) and LORE (Best Young Actor).

Marking another brilliant year for Australian television, the 2nd AACTA Awards celebrated 11 productions across 13 Awards, with HOWZAT! KERRY PACKER'S WAR and REDFERN NOW the only productions to receive multiple Awards.

Individual Awards went to producer Al Clark, who was honoured with the Raymond Longford Award at the 2nd AACTA Awards Luncheon, and the late filmmaker, animator and artist Sarah Watt, whose son Clem McInnes accepted the Byron Kennedy Award on her behalf at the 2nd AACTA Awards Ceremony.
