Visual Effects or Animation entries for the 2025 AACTA Awards are open.
AACTA Award for Best Visual Effects or Animation
Entries Open: Friday 6th September

In the case of a short film, the the production must have been must have been completed between 28th July 2023 and 25th July 2024.
In the case of a documentary, the production must have been completed between 25th August 2023 and 22nd August 24th 2024.
In the case of a feature film, the production must have been released in Australia (via one of the approved strategies in the 2025 AACTA Awards Rule Book) for the first time between 1st January 2024 and 31st December 2024.
In the case of a television production, the first episode must have been broadcast in Australia for the first time between 1st January 2024 and 31st December 2024.
To ensure the most comprehensive and inclusive field, AACTA reserves the right to extend the eligibility period. AACTA members will be notified of any changes.

If the production has been submitted for another award category (e.g. Feature Film or Television), and meets that categories membership requirement, then no additional memberships are needed.
If just the VFX elements are being submitted to the AACTA Awards and there is no corresponding production entry, a minimum of two candidates on the entry must be AACTA Professional members.
