AACTA Events & Initiatives move online
In light of the uncertainty regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19), we are writing to share an update on the steps we’re taking to safeguard our members, staff and the broader creative community.
Firstly, we sincerely hope that all of you are well and taking necessary provisions to keep both you and your loved ones safe. During these challenging times we must remember we are part of a community and as such, look out for each other whenever possible.
Our first step in ensuring your safety is to change the way we deliver our live events. From next week, we will move our regular film and television Q&A events in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane from in-cinema to online during these unprecedented times.
We’ve been working with broadcasters and production companies to deliver Australian screen culture and industry development content online to a standard you’ve all come to expect. Starting with our year-round events program, every few weeks we will present a preview screening of an Australian production eligible for the AACTA Awards, and follow it with a panel discussion with the cast and creators – all online and exclusive to our members – for the first time making our program accessible to all our members, Australia-wide.
We’ll also continue to facilitate valuable conversations with creatives via our digital platforms on AACTA Connect, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
One of the first events we will present online will be a preview of MYSTERY ROAD 2. Further details on this will be provided next week, including where and when to watch the exclusive preview episodes, and the online panel discussion that will follow.
The development of creatives remain a strong priority and with regards to other activities, we are working with our partners to establish alternative approaches to still deliver our initiatives in a safe yet effective way, such as our AACTA Pitch: Regional Landscapes in partnership with Screenworks pitching competition.
Our team will continue to adapt and find innovative ways to support the Australian screen industry during these challenging times.
