Unsung Stories Gala
The Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) and the National Foundation for Australia-China Relations celebrated the first year of our Unsung Stories initiative at a Gala event on Monday night at The Ritz in Sydney. Many from the Chinese Australian community were present, joined by government representatives and fellow AACTA members. Attendees were treated to a curated selection of stories from the initiative, and also had the opportunity to hear directly from the entrants as well as members of our selection committee.
AACTA is proud to feature all the entries received in Year 1 of the initiative on our website, making them accessible indefinitely to audiences globally. We believe these stories carry significance and trust that you will find value and enjoyment in them.
The atmosphere was buzzing as guests mingled and networked, taking photos in-front of the media walls and catching up with each other at the pre-reception before the screening program began.
Our host for the evening, Kingsley Liu, welcomed guests as they sat down to an elegant night of storytelling.

In between screenings, we got to hear from both entrants and our selection committee members on their experiences of being involved.
Following the screening of the stories, which was met with applause and cheers from the crowd, all participants came together for a historic group photo.
