Join us for a curated selection of some of the most internationally-awarded animated short films ever made by Australians.
From Adam Elliot's Oscar-winning Harvie Krumpet, to this year’s Oscar nominee An Ostrich Told Me The World Is Fake and I Think I Believe It, by Queensland student Lachlan Pendragon. Australians continue to punch above their weight at the Oscars with 196 nominations and 58 wins. AACTA’s programming team have assembled a stellar line up of home-grown animated shorts that have all been either shortlisted, nominated, or won the Oscar for Best Animated Short Film.
Included in the program is Bruce Petty's Leisure, Sejong Park and Andrew Gregory's Birthday Boy, Adam Elliot’s Harvie Krumpet, Shaun Tan's iconic The Lost Thing, Goldy & Bradley Slabe’s Lost & Found and of course Lachlan Pendragon's An Ostrich Told Me The World Is Fake and I Think I Believe It.
Following the program, audiences will then hear from Queenslander Lachlan Pendragon, who will share his experience of being nominated for the Oscar this year, and his approach and philosophy towards his work.
