In order to stay alive, an American criminal is forced to hide out in a small Australian reef town in Far North Queensland, posing as the new church Reverend.
AACTA brings together Tom Hoffie (Producer) and Paddy Macrae (Creator, Executive Producer, Showrunner, Writer) to talk with ScreenFest audiences about their highly anticipated series, IRREVERENT. In conversation with Screen Queensland's Head of Physical Production Gina Black, the pair will discuss what brought them together to collaborate, the benefits of filming in Queensland, financing the series, assembling local crew and cast and highlights from shooting on location in Mission Beach, Far North Queensland. The ten-part drama series was supported by Screen Queensland's Production Attraction Strategy and produced by Universal International Studios' Matchbox Pictures for streamers Peacock US and Netflix ANZ.

TOM HOFFIE | Producer Tom Hoffie’s production career in the international and domestic film industry has spanned over four decades during which time he has been engaged in a wide range of shows ranging from independent domestic productions to international studio productions. The studios he has produced for include Disney, HBO, MGM, Warners, Universal, Peacock and Netflix. Most recently, Hoffie produced CLICKBAIT for Netflix. It was the most watched SVOD programme internationally for a significant period. He has just wrapped post production on Irreverent, a 10 x 1 hour series for Peacock and Netflix. IRREVERENT will air in the latter part of 2022.

PADDY MCCRAE | Showrunner and Creator Paddy Macrae is an Executive Producer who has held multiple roles in scripted development since 2015 at Matchbox Pictures (THE SLAP, CLICKBAIT, STATELESS). Paddy has worked across the scripted development slate at Matchbox on projects including BARRACUDA, GLITCH, NOWHERE BOYS, SEVEN TYPES OF AMBIGUITY and all three seasons of WANTED for Channel Seven & Netflix. Paddy holds a BA of Film & TV from Swinburne and an MA in Screenwriting from the Victorian College of the Arts. He is about to launch his first original series, 10 x 1 hour drama IRREVERENT, for Netflix and NBC Peacock as Executive Producer, Showrunner & creator.

GINA BLACK | Host Gina Black started her career in London, working for a leading Theatrical Agent representing many prominent actors. After a few years, she decided to travel to Australia to explore new opportunities and has remained here ever since. Settling in Melbourne, Gina was employed by Crawford Productions in their casting department, then moved into Production. She then ventured into the freelance world as a Production Manager, and her career took her to Queensland where she has spent many years working as a Unit Production Manager and Line Producer on Offshore Productions specialising in Movies of the Week, Features and Series Television. Gina joined Screen Queensland in 2013 and is currently the Head of Physical Production. She has also worked as the Head of Production Attraction and the Executive Vice President of Production Incentives. Gina is also an AFCI (Association of Film Commissioners International) Certified Film Commissioner and serves on the AFCI Board of Directors.
