The New Boy (Gold Coast)

The Gold Coast is in for a special treat as AACTA proudly presents an exclusive preview screening of Warwick Thornton's highly anticipated new film, THE NEW BOY, direct from its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. 

But that's not all! Before the screening, you're invited to join us for a pre-screening mixer from 5:30pm to 6:30pm. This is a unique opportunity to mingle with Warwick himself, along with AACTA members, industry professionals, and fellow fans of his work.

Following the screening, Warwick will take the stage for an exclusive Q&A session, where he will share personal insights into his creative process, as well as his experiences in writing, directing, and shooting the film.

THE NEW BOY is set in the 1940s, where a 9-year-old Aboriginal boy arrives in the middle of the night at a remote monastery run by a renegade nun. The boy's presence disrupts the delicately balanced world in this tale of spiritual struggle and the high stakes of survival.

Featuring an all-star cast including Aswan Reid, Deborah Mailman, Wayne Blair and Cate Blanchett.
